PROGRAM FAQS
YOU GOT QUESTIONS, WE GOT ANSWERS!
1. Who can join the team?
Our program is open to athletes aged 10U to 17U contingent on assessment. Tryouts may be required to assess skill level and team fit.
2. What age group is my Athlete eligible to play in?
2025 AAU Boys' Basketball Eligibility Requirements
*Grade Exception Rule: An athlete who is in the grade that matches the age group but is older than the age cutoff by no more than one year can still play in that division. Example: A 14U player must be 14 or younger as of August 31. However, a 15-year-old in 8th grade can still play 14U under the exception rule.
3. How often does the team practice?
Practice is held on average twice a week. The coaching staff will provide the upcoming week’s practice schedule and location details. Regular and consistent attendance is vital for players to develop their skills and foster teamwork. There will be no practice on school breaks and holidays. Athletes are expected to maintain their training outside of scheduled practices during breaks. Athletes are required to wear uniforms to practices.
4. How often does the team travel for games?
We travel on average twice a month for tournaments and games. The schedule is provided in advance to allow for planning.
5. What are the costs associated with joining?
Costs vary by season but generally include tournaments, uniforms, coaching, and facility fees. A breakdown of fees will be provided upon registration. Additionally, most of our tournaments require that each Athlete has an updated Sports Passport Account. The Passport is valid for one year and costs about $75. It archives each Athlete's journey, including verifying age and grade, tracking event participation, delivering real-time stats, box scores, and standings, showcasing achievements, and storing pictures and videos.

6. Can my athlete advance to a higher-level team?
Yes, athletes may have the opportunity to move to a more advanced team during the season depending on skill level, performance, and coach evaluations. Coaches will assess athletes throughout the season and may recommend movement if it benefits the athlete’s development.
7. How do players get to games and tournaments?
Parents are responsible for transportation.
8. What should players bring on travel days?
Athletes should have their uniform, warm-up gear, basketball shoes, water bottle, and any necessary personal items.
9. Are there any additional fees at events?
Yes, there may be entrance fees for spectators and/or parking fees at travel ball events. Entrance fees typically range from $5 to $25 depending on the venue. Some facilities only accept cash, so it's a good idea to bring cash just in case. Most venues will also accept credit card, Venmo, or Cash App, but payment options can vary. Always check ahead or come prepared with multiple forms of payment.
10. Are hotel accommodations provided for overnight trips?
For out-of-town tournaments requiring overnight stays, hotel blocks will be reserved. Families are responsible for booking their own rooms unless otherwise arranged.
11. What is the attendance policy?
Athletes are expected to attend all practices and games unless excused by the coach. Communication in advance is required for any absences.
12. How can parents stay updated on schedules and team news?
We use a team app, email updates, and a private group chat for real-time updates. Parents should ensure their contact information is up to date.
13. Can I get a refund if I withdraw from the program?
Program fees are non-refundable. Because our program is structured around participant commitment - tournaments, gym, and travel fees are paid well in advance - we are unable to offer refunds under normal circumstances.
However, exceptions may be considered in cases of documented medical emergencies. If you believe your situation qualifies, please contact us with supporting documentation for review.
14. Who should I contact with additional questions?
For any further questions, please contact the coaching staff at staff@gamepointbball.com.
